Hotel Rural El Mondalón

We had such a good stay, and a big thank you to everyone here for making it feel special. Domingo, the caretaker, and his partner were brilliant. They made us coffee in their office every evening, with him speaking Spanish and us speaking English. The manager was lovely too, and gave us a bottle of wine made from grapes from their vineyard. Our room was comfortable and cleaned every day. It's away from the tourist route, so if a big, tasty breakfast included in the price sounds good, this is the place. The restaurant isn't open, but that didn't bother us. We'd really recommend hiring a car.

We had a firm bed that took a little getting used to, though it became comfortable-ish, and good quality linens. The room description said queen bed, but we were lucky to get a wider king bed. There's one shared blanket, with individual ones in the cabinet. The hotel is beautiful and peaceful, with a warm wood interior. Our upstairs room had a high open beam ceiling, and the upstairs rooms share a lovely open enclosure. Downstairs rooms have private terraces. Breakfast is medium-sized, uses good ingredients, and varies each day. There's currently no restaurant. The hotel has just 10 rooms, seven upstairs by stairs and three at ground level. The gated parking is shut overnight, but you can open it with your room key. Staff were very friendly.

We had a peaceful week here in the middle of September, with lovely views that made you want to paint them. The pool was nice, parking plentiful, and a private hiking path to the crater was really peaceful. We were upgraded to a bigger room, which was a nice touch. Breakfast changed a bit each day, and the woman serving it was attentive and remembered our drinks. The security guard was always funny and friendly to talk to, and the owner was helpful and kind. A few things could be better. The WiFi sometimes didn't work for me, the restaurant is shut, and the fitness area was mostly closed and very small. The grounds were lovely for a walk, but there were no benches to sit and relax. I'd recommend staying here if you have a car, since there's not much you can reach otherwise.

The pool was a lovely place to relax, and everything we needed was taken care of easily. The hotel sits in a quiet, quaint setting and made a great base for seeing the island, though I'd advise renting a car. The staff were so friendly and gave us great suggestions for exploring the area. We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.
