The meal here was the best pilgrim dinner I’ve had on this Camino, cooked from scratch and great value for the price. Locals eat at the restaurant too, and there are other menu choices if you’re not in the mood for the pilgrim’s meal. I arrived to find one bunk and one private room left. The pilgrim I’d been walking with took the bunk, and I stayed in the room. Both options were spotless, and you can tell the family has put real thought into the place. Towels and a free bottle of water were a lovely extra. The showers and toilets were clean, and the card-operated washer and dryer meant no need for coins. I slept well and felt ready for the next stage. A really welcoming family-run stop on the Camino Francés.

I’ve loved staying here both times I’ve been. Danielle does a great job making sure everyone’s looked after, and the whole albergue is spotless. You can choose a private room or a dorm, then eat in the spacious bar and restaurant, with seating inside and out. The pilgrim dinner was fabulous, and breakfast was a huge buffet with loads of hot and cold choices. Great coffee, too.

I don’t usually complain, but this meal needs mentioning. I paid 17 euros, which I wouldn’t mind if the food had been decent, but it was really bad and felt like a rip-off. The spaghetti starter was fine. For the main, I got frozen battered fish and greasy chips, which arrived after the fish. I stayed at the hostel on 17 February 26. It was the only one open, which I understand for February, but the restaurant meal was very poor.

The building’s history has been kept in the place, and I found it interesting. A walk through the village up to the church gives you a nice viewpoint, though the church was closed and looked like it might no longer be in use. It’s a lovely place, but feels more like a simple mini boutique hotel than a pilgrim-style albergue. Prices are much higher than at other albergues, though the fixtures and facilities are better appointed and service is available all day. Staff were trying their best, but seemed frazzled and stretched thin. We later learned they were short-staffed, so we had to be patient. Still, a very nice stay.

The restaurant was lovely, and the service was excellent. They’ve thought of the things pilgrims need, like foot cream, washing and drying machines, and chairs to rest in. Special thanks to Daniella, who was so helpful and always smiling ☺️
