The building is lovely to look at, and the staff were really friendly. It’s a bit worn, but fine for the price, and we had a good time.

Getting into the parking area can send you round in circles, so call the hotel for directions to the entrance at the front of the building. Once there, the location is handy for bars and restaurants, and it was great value. We enjoyed staying in such a characterful place.

There are plenty of local bars nearby, and it’s well placed for trips to Oñati, Arantzazu, Loyola, Elkain and Mount Aizkorri. The house itself feels like a real 19th-century home, complete with its original leaded windows.

The staff were nice, but the hotel felt very old and smoky. Not the best place to stay.

The staff gave good service.
