Hostal Misericordia

The apartment was modern, fully equipped, and right in the heart of León. My family and I loved our stay and were really happy with it. Breakfast had everything, from fruit and coffee to hot chocolate, milk, jams, and pastries. They'd thought of every detail. We ran into the cleaning staff at the building entrance a couple of times, and they were lovely and incredibly kind. We're already looking forward to coming back to León next year and staying here again. Congratulations on taking such good care of your guests.

We had a very quiet room overlooking the tapas area, despite the hostel's spot in the Barrio Húmedo (Wet Quarter), and it was very clean. There's a private bathroom, toiletries, and a hairdryer. Parking is difficult because access is pedestrian and the place is next to the cathedral. Checking in at another hostel a few meters away was a bit of a hassle, and they only give you one key. On the plus side, you can get in privately at any time. Excellent value for money, and I'd definitely stay again.

The room itself was basic, with a very thin mattress, flat pillows, and no bedside table or lamp, just the ceiling light. The bathroom was outside the room, though we thought we had booked one inside; reception said the reservation specified this, but it only said “Double room with private bathroom. (E).” Had we known, we wouldn't have stayed. Maybe that was just their cover. Privacy was uncomfortable too, since we didn't know who else we were sharing the room with. Hot water took ages and never got particularly hot. And sleep was impossible. The door between the hostel staircase and the other apartments slammed loudly, on top of noise from the room, bathroom, and street. We were told the room was quiet, but could hear every conversation outside. I'm not a light sleeper, yet by 6:00 a.m. we had to leave because it was unbearable. We chose it for the strong reviews and good Easter price, but had a terrible stay. The next day, for the same price, we stayed at a Eurostars hotel, which was unbelievable. The lady at reception was very friendly, at least.

The owner was so attentive and friendly that we'll definitely come back. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and well soundproofed, in an excellent location. It had everything we could need, from utensils and food to toiletries and cleaning supplies. Everything was perfect, with no complaints.
