Hotel la Arquera

The historic building has no AC, but its thick walls kept out the summer heat. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with great amenities, and the staff were kind. There's free parking and a picturesque garden, too. A beautiful house in a great location. It deserves another star, and I can absolutely recommend it. I'll come back as soon as I get the chance.

Good value, and I'd definitely stay here again. I used it for three nights as a base to explore the Picos. The staff were friendly, the owner lovely, and my room was large and clean, with a kitchen. Getting into town was an easy 15-minute walk, though the way back is gently uphill.

They took real care with my gluten-free needs as someone with Coeliac disease, and some of the staff speak quite good English. I have to admit our Spanish is nonexistent. The family-run hotel is very friendly, even to us UK gringos, and immaculately kept inside and out. There are lovely gardens to sit in and the wifi is very good. The area is beautiful, with the Asturias mountains and beaches. We came by ferry to Santander, about an hour's drive away. It's a tourist area, but almost all the visitors seemed to be Spaniards, so the food and drink felt authentic. I was sad to leave and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Our room was roomy, quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the garden felt cosy with plenty of space for pets. They're welcome here and treated well. The location is convenient, with the town centre in Llanes close by, a supermarket within walking distance, and beaches a short drive away. A nice spot for a proper rest.
