Pension Iberia

Pensión Iberia is a good choice if you need somewhere affordable in Llanes during the off season, when many other hotels are shut. It’s a one or two star place, so keep expectations simple. The location also works well for exploring the coasts of Cantabria and Asturias by FEVE in winter, and I’d stay here again for that. Check-in was easy, and they’ll wait if your FEVE train runs a few minutes late, as long as you tell them when booking. My room was clean despite the building’s age. They made the bed and took out the rubbish each day, and the windows kept the noise out for me. There were two conveniently placed sockets for charging devices. The shower had decent pressure and plenty of hot water, and they supplied lots of toilet paper, hand soap and towels. It’s not fully accessible for wheelchairs or strollers: the hotel is on the first floor, with a step at the entrance once you get there. The bathroom is dated and has the kind of damp-related black marks on the ceiling that can be hard to get rid of. The heater works and there’s an extra blanket, but I’d still bring sleep pants in winter. It’s not freezing, but a sheet alone wouldn’t be enough. The old TV remote was annoying because its batteries kept falling out.
