La Casa de Las Camelias

That almond cake was off the scale, and you could taste Marcos’s experience from working in London and elsewhere around the world in his cooking. I was the only vegan in my family and had a hard time finding food in a couple of Asturian towns during the day, so I really appreciated how Marcos adapted the menu at short notice on our first evening and made me something sooooo delicious. On the second night, he left instructions with the very attentive female chef to make sure our food needs were taken care of. I think the chef’s name was Marcos, sorry if I got that wrong! He went above and beyond, and I’m very grateful. A local at the hotel where we were staying had recommended this lovely place for our family of three, and I was extremely impressed by the food quality and creativity. We’ll definitely return! One thing I didn’t like: on the second evening I saw the owner speaking to the female chef in a pretty condescending tone. It wasn’t pleasant for visitors to hear, and he needs to learn to speak to staff with respect. We didn’t stay here, so I can’t comment on the rooms. X

Busto itself doesn’t have a lot going on, though Lurca is just 10 minutes away. The hotel was very good value, and we felt welcome from the start. We really enjoyed our two nights here. It’s a delightful little hotel on the peninsula, with beautiful modern rooms, tasteful decor, and perfect plumbing. The home cooking was very good without being dull. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly and super helpful, and it’s a good spot if you’re doing the Camino de Santiago.
