Juan, the manager, was delightful. We enjoyed talking with him and loved the meal he cooked for us on our first evening. His local restaurant suggestions were also much appreciated: we had the best pulpo and wonderful beef at two different places. My husband and I stayed two nights at La Mesa del Cocinero before spending several days on the Camino de Santiago. The room was very clean, the bed VERY comfortable, and it was great value. The old town is only a short walk away. We’d happily stay again on another trip to Lugo.

The owner was so kind and helpful when I needed an urgent one-night stay on my way to Vigo. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the rooms are clean and charming. This simple hostel has been recently renovated and is just steps from the city walls and Old Town, making the value feel like a steal these days. I didn’t get to try the restaurant, but it was busy and the food looked good, so it seems like it must be a local favorite. Thanks for the hospitality. I’ve added it to my list for future trips to Lugo and highly recommend it.

We chose this place because it was close to our hotel and arrived around 3 pm. They offered us a set menu for 15 euros. Both the waitress and chef were attentive and checked that everything was to our liking. The raxo (pork loin) was our favorite, freshly made with delicious homemade potatoes. The dining room is upstairs, while tapas are also available downstairs in the bar.
