Breakfast on the sixth floor had plenty to choose from, and the setting was lovely. The hotel is right by the Camino Primitivo, just off Lugo's main square. Rooms are a little dated and on the small side, but spotless and very comfortable.

We enjoyed the rooftop terrace for an evening meal or drinks, and the service was friendly. The hotel sits inside the old town, which is a great location. Rooms are basic but clean, with very comfortable pillows, and breakfast has a good range of choices.
We left right away and asked for a refund. The room was dirty, with squashed mosquito blood marks on the walls, unknown smudges on the sheets, and hair on the toilet seat. The place felt outdated and uninspired, more suited to a budget business traveler. After staying in albergues on the Camino, I booked this for a rest day expecting some comfort for the price and hotel rating. It was gross and a huge disappointment.
The rooftop views and breakfast were so good I wondered why I hadn't been coming every day. I first came for the Roman walls, and the staff were friendlier than my own family. Highly recommend if you like comfort, history, and a laugh at how spoiled you've become.
We were hoping just to leave our bags early, but they let us check in and get some much-needed rest instead. The Terrace food was amazing, and the staff were really friendly. Despite being Galicia's oldest hotel, Hotel Mendez Nunez feels modern and comfortable. I'll absolutely stay again.
