A&H Plaza del Liceo

It’s at least 25 km from central Madrid, and getting there takes at least 50 minutes by metro. The rooms are just four bare walls, with no design or decoration, more like a two star motel. The shower cubicle is extremely dangerous, made of cheap, slippery plastic. I stayed three nights recently for a work meeting nearby, and this cannot be called a four star establishment. Charging 120 euros for a room is a ripoff. A fair price would be 40€ a night. Truly bad value.

For a VIP member, there are lots of amenities, and the bathroom has pretty much everything you need. It’s a very luxurious hotel. Metro 8 is close, there’s a bus stop next door, and Palacio de Hielo is nearby. The city center is about 30 minutes away.

The location is quiet but still accessible, with Line 4 a five minute walk away and services around the area. I had a very late arrival, and the front desk staff were friendly and quick at check-in. I was put in an accessible suite, though it mostly didn’t feel like one. Nadir restaurant surprised me for a smaller hotel, with a tasty menu and long opening hours. There’s also a nice terrace beside a quiet street where you can have drinks and dessert. The building and its bedrooms and bathrooms are modern and well designed. Recommended.

Good service, good Wi-Fi, and a good hotel. The architect squeezed the toilet between two walls on every floor, which I could almost forgive. But I’d like to meet the “genius” who put a sharp metal paper holder right there. It’s cramped and a safety hazard. No further comments needed.
