AYZ Sierra de Meira - Auto check-in property

DIS-GUS-TING. I chose this place because it was cheap and suited what I needed, but when I arrived I saw bugs, blood-stained sheets, and an insane amount of noise from other rooms. I walked straight back out. The place wasn't fit to stay in, so I asked for at least a partial refund and got a one-word email from the staff: “DENIED.” I had to pay a lot more than I wanted to stay somewhere else. Wish I'd read the reviews first.

Parking was a nightmare, and pulling back the covers or using a towel felt risky because I was afraid of being charged for something. At check-in there’s a huge price list for staining sheets or towels, or any little incident. It felt outrageous and made the whole stay uncomfortable and distrustful. The check-in process is also incredibly intrusive. To get the room codes, they ask for more information than you'd need for a mortgage, about absolutely everything. I already felt uneasy after reading reviews about bed bugs, and then found hairs when I pulled back the covers. The toilet smelled strongly of damp. I had the worst night of my life and didn't sleep at all.

The room was shabby and filthy. We found cans on the floor, with hair stuck to the walls and hanging from the door hinges. There was constant noise from the hallway and other rooms, and you could hear everything. The mattress was soft and sagging, and the room was so small, even though I booked the “comfort” room. I can't imagine what the others are like.

There was no way to contact the person in charge, just the hotel's automated chat. We met guests who were also struggling to check in throughout our stay. Without a credit card, you can't check in, and if your phone battery runs out, you're left at the door. The mattress was uncomfortable, the room cramped like a cell, and the paper-thin walls let me hear the people next door. The bedding was stained, the towels were dirty and had hair from previous guests, and there was hair in the bathroom. The towel we got at check-in was already dirty and stained. When I asked for a replacement, I was told it would cost extra. I was also charged an additional fee at checkout over a stained towel.
