Hostal Casa Chueca

The owner was very accommodating, and we had a great experience. The hostel is in an excellent location. The rooms and renovated bathrooms were very clean, and the beds were really comfortable. We were also given extra towels for free. Highly recommend staying here!

Mario is very welcoming and helpful, and the small old room was very clean. The location is one of the best, right in the center of everything and near the gay bars. We booked the better room with a balcony, but the place is old and poorly maintained. The floor was uneven and seemed to have collapsed, there were broken tiles, and the little balcony was barely big enough for one person. It wasn’t useful because the AC motor was on it. The Wi-Fi kept crashing every 3 min and felt like it was from 1995. Mario and the location are the reasons we liked it.

We felt safe and comfortable the whole time, and the rooms were nice and clean. The owner was great and very accommodating with our large group. The location was perfect, too. Highly recommend this wonderful hostel for a Madrid trip!

I felt safe, and I’d go back in an instant. My room was small and the toilet was in a weird spot, but it had air conditioning. It was cleaned every day, and the sheets were changed twice during my stay. I was a tiny bit sore from climbing the 40ish steps several times a day, but I saved a little money too. The seven rooms Mario showed me were clean and carefully designed. You could pick at minor details, but I felt like someone’s guest, not just a source of income. It was my first time in Spain and in a hostal, on a 10 day trip. Mario made it exceptional, and his suggestions for clubs and sites were perfect. He was usually in his tiny office by the entrance when he wasn’t cleaning, and you could reach him by phone at any time. I could print my return boarding pass for a fee. I also did a little laundry in my sink and hung things on a clothes line above a small open air courtyard/air-vent in the middle of the building.
