Simon at reception took me around the common spaces for coffee and working, and the staff were friendly and easy to approach. The room was very clean, and the hostel was nicer than the Booking photos suggested. Cleaning staff knocked around noon while I was still in, and I said they didn't need to tidy up that day. They cleaned it anyway, so that was a nice surprise. I stayed four days and couldn't be happier with the location, just a two-minute walk from Plaza del Sol, Madrid's main square. The price felt fair for the service: €360 for four nights in mid-April. I'd definitely recommend it.

Just steps from Puerta del Sol, Hostal Aguilar puts the city center right outside the door. My room was comfortable and exceptionally clean, and the front desk staff did more than expected to make my stay excellent. I'm already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommended.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to help us. We found Hostal Aguilar hard to beat for value, especially on our first visit to Madrid. It's in one of the liveliest parts of town, about five minutes from the city center, with most historic sights an easy walk away. The rooms are quiet and newly renovated, with private bathrooms and TVs. There are several lounges where you can relax or watch TV, plus a coffee machine.

The price is fantastic, and the rooms have been updated with a nice design and balconies. It's on a quiet, pleasant street, but still within walking distance of everything. Perfect location. Highly recommended.
