A very nice place to stay for a reasonable price - hotel "Hostal Alaska" is located in Madrid. This hotel is located in the city center. In the morning, have a cup of coffee while looking at the city from the window. You can take a walk and explore the neighbourhood area of the hotel. I barely spoke with the staff, but when I did, they were friendly and helpful. The internet and elevator both worked great. The room was simple and minimalist, with a desk, chair, bed, suitcase rack and a bar with hangers. It was unbelievably clean, and the finishes looked good. My single room seemed newly renovated, and the bathroom was very modern. The bed was delightfully firm. There's no real view, but the window brings in natural light and fresh air. The AC handled a May heat wave well. With the window shut, outside noise wasn't an issue, though you could sometimes hear the hall and neighboring rooms. It's right in the middle of a lively neighborhood beside the Puerto del Sol, so it's great for walkers. I didn't use public transit and still saw most of the main attractions. A simple, very clean place to rest comfortably and quietly.

The staff's hospitality really stood out, everyone was friendly. The rooms were spacious and excellent, with the basic things you need. Lots of nearby places to eat, groceries and attractions are an easy walk away. There's also a bus stop and Metro close by if you want them. Excellent stay.

For our summer holiday, my husband accidentally booked August 19-24 instead of July 19-24 and had already paid. He noticed the mistake within an hour and contacted the property straight away to explain. We asked for a refund or to change the dates, and even offered to pay any difference, but the business refused both. This happened on July 2. We did make the mistake, but their response mattered more to us. We lost €342, which felt like easy profit to them. I found their attitude greedy and unethical, and wouldn't recommend staying somewhere that acts this way. They could have chosen decency, but they didn't. Stay somewhere else.

We had a good stay and would definitely recommend this hostel. The employees were very friendly, the price was reasonable, and it's in a great downtown Madrid location. It was frustrating that we couldn't get into our room when we arrived earlier, even though they put our things in there and we could see it was empty. After the air conditioning in our first room broke, they kindly offered us another one.

My husband arrived later than expected, and the room I'd booked for him had been given to someone else. They put him in a better room instead, and he was thrilled. It was big, beautiful and spotless, and he slept really well. The hostal is right by La Plaza del Sol, with restaurants and tourist attractions all around.
