The cleaning was really good, and the location was handy, near the yellow metro line. The deal is good for the price, though the rooms are tiny. We got a very large bathroom. Soundproofing is poor, so you might wake up several times during the night. You have to use the elevator. There's also a way in and out through a residential building, but after we used it, we were told it was only for emergencies.

I arrived around 2:00 AM on June 25/26 and couldn't get into my room. The door was locked, my valid key card showed a red light, and nobody answered when I knocked or called any of the numbers on the website. I had to find somewhere else to stay in the middle of the night, even though I had an early flight. I needed to collect my things by 7:30 AM, but the door was still shut. I eventually found a way in through the residential building, and reception was still closed when I left. Nobody had mentioned that separate exit or explained how to get in if the main door was barred. The receptionist didn't speak English and couldn't understand that I wanted to leave the hotel.

A good place for a short Madrid trip. The area is quiet, with cafés, grocery shops, and pubs just around the corner. The Hostal staff were really friendly and kind.

Nice surroundings, and the rooms were clean.

They charged a lot for what it was, even with the central Madrid location. At arrival, they said my booking was for one person. Once they checked and saw that wasn't true, we got a card, but our small room was unlocked and had no card slot. It opened with a key they had forgotten to give us. There was only a sheet, no duvet, and the brown blanket in the closet was dirty, with white pills all over it. The window looked onto an interior courtyard, so we could hear everything. The towels had no smell at all. Only the hallway smelled nice.
