Hostal Splendid

The booking was confirmed by email, but the very next day the hotel cancelled it without giving a reason. When I called, the front desk was rude and ended up shouting that my card hadn't passed authorization. I checked with my bank and found the hotel hadn't even attempted a charge. I never stayed there. Be careful when booking and make sure your reservation is actually in place.

For one person, the affordable double room worked fine for my two-night stay, and it had its own bathroom. The staff were nice, though they spoke little English. The room key arrangement is unusual, so ask how it works. It’s a good cheap place, but it’s not a hostel.

The location was fantastic, right on the main avenue and near the tourist sights. I had a comfortable three-person room with a private bathroom, and the service was excellent. They also give you several keys so guests don’t run into problems with each other.

The staff were all really friendly, and there was security around the clock. Our four-person room was bright and clean, with the bathroom and toiletries we needed. I’d definitely come back. It was a 10 out of 10 for me.
