Hostal Villamañez

The location is perfect and the price is very good. The room was decent, but the beds felt old and were too short for me. I’m quite tall, so my legs stuck out while I slept. New furniture would make the place feel cozy and really nice. As it is, it’s decent.

The room was recently renovated, spotless, and lovely. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower had good pressure and temperature, and even the hair dryer was better than the usual weak hotel ones. Adrián spoke very good English and was helpful. Carla was also lovely and attentive. We only spoke Spanish with her, and she quickly replaced a key that was giving us trouble. She made sure we were comfortable throughout. The hotel is on the second floor, up old wooden stairs, so it’s not ideal if you have mobility issues. It was a bit noisy outside, especially Friday night and on the weekend, and there were no sockets by the bed. It was easy to find and the location couldn’t be better, about a 10-minute walk from Retiro Park and Puerta del Sol, with supermarkets, restaurants, and cafés nearby. I’d highly recommend it for a reasonably priced Madrid break.

They were very helpful by phone about a Booking reservation I couldn’t use, and thanks to them I was able to cancel it. They also suggested another place to stay nearby. Thanks so much, and I hope I can book with them in the future.

The owner was very friendly and helpful, and even waited up for us until very late without charging extra. The place was clean, with a great location close to the city center, Gran Vía, Spain’s km zero, and most of central Madrid’s attractions. The beds could use replacing, though.
