Hotel Madrisol

The location was the one good thing. Reception service left me unimpressed. I asked twice to have the soap in my bathroom refilled, but it never happened, so I stopped asking. I felt the receptionist was going out of his way to avoid me and wouldn’t acknowledge me. Twice I spoke to him at the desk and he quickly cut me off to focus on another resident. It felt rude and annoying. I also had to miss breakfast because I was catching early morning trains, but they made no allowance for that and refused to give me a pack-up.

The balcony was a lovely extra, and the weather was perfect while we were there. Hotel Mardisol is in a great spot in El Centro Madrid, with direct access to the must-sees. The staff were very helpful, and the ladies in the breakfast room were friendly and professional. We stayed here during our Madrid trip, checked out to spend a few days in Barcelona, then came back to Hotel Mardisol when we returned.

The location is perfect and the staff were very good. The room is small for the price, though acceptable. The balcony is just for the view, you can open it to look out but can’t access it. There were no amenities or water in the room. Noise was manageable after closing the window, not too much. Breakfast was 3/10, with no choices at all for the price.

You really can’t sleep here because the rooms aren’t soundproof. Parties, restaurants, pubs, and clubs are right in front of and beside the hotel. There was a horrible smell when I entered my room. I couldn’t work out where it came from, and couldn’t stay there with the windows shut. I’d read other reviews describing the same issues before booking and thought I’d give it a try. I regret not paying attention to them. If you want to party at night and sleep during the day, it might suit you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend finding another hotel.
