Marina Rooms

Madrid was very hot, and we were left in a room at 30 degrees celsius (86 f) after the air-conditioning failed. We first noticed it on night one and contacted the staff the next morning. They said someone would come later that day, but no one ever fixed it. There was no one at reception while we were there, so we could only message by whatsapp. By evening they had stopped replying and ignored our calls. When we asked to change rooms or get a refund, the staff showed no empathy and offered no solution. We just wanted to leave after that, but dealing with the owner was even worse. He didn't listen and made horrible accusations about my character to deflect from giving me a full refund.

Our flight was delayed, but the staff were fantastic about accommodating our late arrival. The rooms were excellent quality for a very cheap price, and the location is extremely central. Fantastic value for money, I'd highly recommend staying here!

The location is excellent, the prices are good, and it was relatively clean. But the AC kept switching itself off after about 30 minutes, and there was nobody at reception. The walls are so thin you can hear everything around the room, and they vibrate enough to make the door hard to close.

The bed had no support and was terrible, and the room wasn't very clean. The toilet seat was loose, and the bathroom looked like a DIY job that hadn't been done well. Also, the t-shirt shop is the right entrance to Marina Rooms. Inside the hostal, the walls are paper-thin. We heard neighbors showering, using the toilet, and talking, along with lots of loud people during our stay. The doorbell kept ringing for hostal check-ins, even at midnight, since the place is somebody's home converted into rooms. The street was mostly quiet apart from construction work, as other comments say. I wish we'd booked a hotel.
