Hotel Mercader

Our sleep was ruined by how much noise came through the walls. I could hear someone snoring loudly next door all night, then a screaming child and housekeeping making constant noise in the morning. It was stressful and really uncomfortable. We'd asked for a double bed but got two separate beds pushed together, which was inconvenient and uncomfortable. The room was unbearably hot as well, and the air conditioner didn't work. A very disappointing stay. I don't recommend this hotel.

For a hotel rated four stars, this felt like less than two. The toilets had a strong, constant poop smell. Breakfast had very few choices, and there was no lunch or dinner since the kitchen closed at 11am. The mini fridge was empty, and when I wanted drinks, the vending machine was broken. I didn't even have the option of getting water in the evening. For what we paid, this place was a mess.

I couldn't sleep because the room was extremely dusty, and I'm allergic to dust. You could also hear people in the next room clearly through the walls. Some staff were very unfriendly. One of my worst hotel experiences.

Our room had a nice view, especially at night with the sunset and city lights, and it was spacious, clean, and well kept. The staff were helpful. There's a quick breakfast buffet for 7 Euros. The downside is that it's a little far from the city and there are no direct public transport services. Still, we thought it was a very nice hotel and would return next time we're in Madrid.
