NH Madrid Atocha

The room was small and a little expensive, and breakfast was also quite pricey, though it turned out to be unexpectedly good. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we didn't have any noise problems. We couldn't check in before 3pm because that's the hotel's policy. In my experience, hotels can often accommodate an early check-in request, though, so that was a bit disappointing. I stayed just one night and was happy with it. I've generally had good experiences with NH hotels, and this one was no exception. You're paying for the very convenient spot right across from Atocha station.

The staff were super friendly, everything was clean, and the location right across from the train station is perfect. But at €300 a night, it doesn't feel worth the price. The room is more like a closet than a proper room, I couldn't even open my suitcase. You can hear absolutely everything from the corridor. I woke up when guests arrived at night, even though they weren't being loud, and at 7am the cleaning staff woke me opening and closing hallway closets. The windows are just for show.

The hotel was extremely noisy, and my room was tiny with an uncomfortable bed. Even though it was a single room, it shouldn't have been at most 9m², especially for 92 euros on a Tuesday evening. The receptionist was rude when I checked in, though Rachel was really nice. I was upset because I couldn't sleep: staff were arguing, and my room for 92 euros was right beside the cleaning storage room. People were going in and out until 1:30am, then started again at 6:30am. There were also machinery noises I couldn't identify.

The metro makes getting here really easy. From the airport, we took it to Atocha, exited through Isabel, and the hotel was about a three-minute walk away. The staff were patient and friendly, and Mr. Luis gave us some great tips. Breakfast was worth the small extra charge. I’d stay here again when we’re back.
