Ocean Drive Madrid

I was able to get some work done at the little desk in our room, even though I'm used to having a full-size desk. The room was very clean, and I really liked its layout and decor, as well as the hotel's. They also display some refreshing and interesting art by local artists. I chose the hotel mainly for the location, and it turned out better than I'd expected.

The scent throughout the hotel, especially in the rooms, was the biggest drawback for us. It was so strong that we both got headaches. We were told housekeeping sprays it around after cleaning. A mild fresh scent would be fine, but this was overwhelming. It would help to mention it on the website and let guests ask for a room without it. We found an air purifier in a cupboard, and that helped. I'd stay here again when we return to Madrid, but I'll ask for no aroma next time. We stayed at Ocean Drive for a couple of nights at the end of November, having tried two other hotels within two blocks, and OD is excellent. Opera Metro is right outside, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was quiet with no street noise, and the AC worked well. There were two bottles of water, a well-stocked minibar, and robes and slippers, which were a nice surprise. The towels were huge, though not especially soft, unusual for Europe. We skipped breakfast because there were options nearby. Our other issue was a rude waitress at the attached Michelin rated restaurant. She was the only rude person we met in three weeks. We speak fluent Spanish, so it wasn't a language issue; she was just obnoxious and we left. The hotel doesn't own the restaurant, though the reception manager did speak to her about her attitude. Ocean Drive Hotel Madrid puts you right in the middle of things, near the opera district and a short walk from Gran Vía. The hotel has a modern look and amenities, and the rooms seem comfortable and well-appointed as a place to come back to after exploring. Its setting near cultural landmarks, including the opera house, adds to the appeal. Guests often praise the friendly, accommodating staff and attentive welcome. Reviews also frequently mention consistent service and a comfortable environment. A strong choice if you want to be close to the city's action.

We've already stayed here twice and plan to come back. The pool is small, but really nice. The rooms are warm, roomy, and comfortable, and the staff are always friendly and ready to help. The hotel itself is beautiful, with an excellent location just steps from Gran Vía and everything within walking distance.
