Hostal Persal

The rooms are basic, but clean and cosy, and the location is excellent for getting around whenever you like. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, which I appreciated. Breakfast was uncomfortable because of the restaurant staff. They were rude and unprofessional, laughing and making guests feel uneasy. I felt their attitude was discriminatory and racist, which is completely unacceptable in a hotel. The reception service is good, but the restaurant staff's behavior needs serious improvement.

The room was more than adequate for me traveling alone, and the prices, location, and helpful staff were all good. Getting into the shower was awkward, though. The gap between the sink and shower entrance was narrow, so I had to shimmy through. With my somewhat compromised hips, stepping up felt perilous. A grab bar by the step might make it feel safer. I'd recommend them without hesitation. 👍

I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go from this perfectly central spot. I spent three nights in a single room on the fourth floor, and the front desk staff were especially helpful. They kept my bags for a few hours after the generous noon checkout, and welcomed me when I arrived very late, at about 2 a.m. Breakfast had pastries, fruit, cereal, meats, and cheese. I'd pick Hostal Persal again if I return to Madrid, whether I'm traveling alone or with my spouse.

The room was clean, the shower water was hot, and it barely felt like a Hostal. Hostal Persal is close to the main city centre attractions, with a perfect location. I had a positive stay and would choose it again on another visit to Madrid.
