Plaza Mayor Apartment

This hotel made a huge difference to my Madrid trip compared with last year, when I tried to save money at a cheaper place and had a dreadful stay. Here, everything was clean and beautiful, and the staff were lovely and helpful. For the value, I thought it was worth every penny.

We had a great view of the plaza from our room, and the beds and showers were really comfortable. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and decor, and even the scents are wonderful. The service was great, the location is amazing, and I especially liked the indoor pool. I can’t recommend it enough.

We appreciated being right in the center of Madrid, and the busy, touristy Plaza Mayor location turned out to be fine. Our courtyard-facing room was quiet and bright, which was a pleasant surprise, and the AC was quiet and worked well. The standard room was compact, especially the bathroom, but the layout was efficient, it had good appointments, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel itself is nicely furnished. We didn’t use the small rooftop pool, but it has a pleasant seating area and it’s nice to have the option. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, with a couple of usual exceptions. The breakfast pricing was the one thing that bothered us: at check-in, we understood that ordering breakfast together would bring it down to €21 each, but later learned that only applied if we ate there every day. That felt unnecessarily cheap and inconsiderate for an otherwise excellent hotel, so I took off a Service star. We still recommend it for a central Madrid stay, especially if you find a good deal like we did.

The staff were so kind and helpful, and we loved the common areas, including the details retained from the building’s days as a firehouse. We were upgraded to a lovely room overlooking Plaza Mayor, with a beautiful view. We’d absolutely stay again.
