The name of this tucked-away plaza in the smaller streets refers to the beginning of Spain’s war of independence against the French troops who were occupying the country. The monument at its centre, ‘Monumento a Daoiz y Velarde’, is connected to that too, since the two were a big help at the start. There are four fairly small playgrounds, one on each side. I did see some garbage and grafiti, so it’s not the cleanest plaza, but it’s still a pleasant place to grab a snack, have a lunch break, or chill with a friend or pet.

The walk from Piazza Espana felt unpleasant at one point, and we felt unsafe. The whole area has graffiti and reminded us of Harlem in the USA. The centre itself wasn’t especially impressive, and we saw a gang and police fight. I’d say it’s better not to come here.

The crew, amuse-bouche, and atmosphere were the good parts, and the area is lovely, especially when you can sit outside on a sunny day. But I really didn't enjoy the tuna pizza. The tuna was ground into the tomato sauce, then a huge slice of raw white onion covered up its taste. The dough was very thin, with way too much cheese and a tomato sauce that had no flavor. One of the worst pizzas I've tried in Spain.

I had an ice cream and relaxed on a bench in the park, surrounded by students, families, and people exploring with happy faces. The whole area had a great vibe. The one thing that bothered me was seeing that someone had messed with the statues. Not cool.
