Hotel Principe Pio

Waking up to a view of the palace from our window was lovely every morning. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is steps from the palace, with two huge parks nearby, and there's great coffee at social hub next door. Reception is open 24/7, which was a big plus, and all the staff were helpful and friendly, especially Daniel. We had a great stay and will be back very soon.

The location was convenient, and that's the one thing that might bring me back. The rooms felt outdated and didn't look like the photos online. Our bathroom door wasn't working properly, and the water kept switching between hot and cold. I raised the problems and asked to change rooms, but they didn't accommodate the request. That was especially frustrating given the state of the room. Overall, the pictures didn't reflect what we got, and the hotel seemed to need renovation and better maintenance. The experience fell short of expectations.

We stayed four nights in Room 801, a top-floor suite. It had been renovated, was spacious and clean, and had a beautiful view of the Royal Palace. There was lots of lighting, plush towels, a separate toilet room, and a freestanding tub. My family had Room 719, a double room with a Palace View, also mostly renovated and incredibly spacious. I don't have photos of that room. The staff were very friendly. Principe Pio Hotel is close to the Palace and about a 20 minute walk from Plaza Mayor. Even though it's on a main road, I didn't hear street noise, probably because we were on a high floor. I definitely think it should be a 4 star hotel, and would highly recommend it.

The location is good and the rooms are spacious, though the bathrooms are old. For a 3-star hotel, the service felt like what you'd get at a 4-star place. I mentioned that I couldn't sleep on a feather pillow, and they brought a visco pillow to my room within an hour.
