The Hat Madrid - Hostel

The city center location is great, and you can walk pretty much everywhere. Rooms and beds are great too, and the roof terrace has really nice views. I did miss having meeting rooms where people could spend time together and give the hostel a more social feel. The changing prices bothered me. 20EUR/night/pp is totally fine, but 50EUR/night/pp is very expensive, and I couldn’t recommend staying on the high-price days.

The highlight for me was the staff. They were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I went with my husband and adult children, and we had a wonderful time. The building was lovely, our room was clean and had everything we needed, and the rooftop bar and restaurant were beautiful, with delicious food. I wish we’d had more time to join the events on offer.

The location is great, just a short walk from Plaza Mayor, major attractions, and some metro stops. The dorm beds were really comfortable, with plenty of storage and decent privacy. The rooms were nice, the ensuite bathroom was convenient, and there were more bathrooms down the hall. The bathrooms were kept very clean. For a big city hostel, it was above average. I wish there were more activities for people traveling alone besides the sangria workshop and pub crawl. Something that didn’t involve drinking would be good, especially given the cost of a dorm bed.

The location made it easy to explore on foot, with Plaza Mayor nearby, and my dorm mates were considerate too. As a woman traveling alone during Semana Santa, I felt comfortable. Everything was clean, the facilities were comfortable, and the staff, from reception to the rooftop cafe, were lovely. I’d happily come back to Madrid and stay here again.
