The only reason I gave this hostel two stars is the good location. I've stayed in hostels across Europe, and this was by far the worst. Management were inflexible and rude. Don't stay here if you value your time and energy. There are about 65 capsules in one room, many of them doubles, so even at a minimum there are 50-60 people sharing the space. Sound carries through the room and the wooden capsules, and there was no peace or quiet at any point. Getting sleep felt impossible. The hallways were very cold while the capsules were hot. The capsules were suffocating, basically wooden boxes with no ventilation. The fan only made noise and didn't do anything useful. The bed was small for two people, and the blanket was even smaller. There was no security beyond a numeric code at the front door: no locks on the capsules, rooms, or even washrooms. The luggage space was only enough for about two carry-on bags, even for two people, so personal belongings and coats had to go inside an already tiny capsule. Our double capsule had just one plug, which blew as soon as we connected an adapter. We couldn't use it for the rest of the stay and had to charge everything in the common area. There's no Wi-Fi in the capsules either.

I spent four nights here in December. It's a good affordable base for seeing Madrid, very close to Plaza España, and you can walk everywhere. The units were comfortable, the bathrooms were really clean, the showers had good pressure, and the kitchen was basic but clean. There was some noise at night now and then, which comes with shared accommodation when people arrive or leave in the middle of the night. Light sleepers should bring earplugs.

Booking and the hotel kept blaming each other, and neither took responsibility, even though I never stayed there. My messages were ignored, my calls were cut off, and I felt treated with no respect. I had a terrible experience with Booking.com and Urban Inn Madrid. I canceled because of visa issues and selected the appropriate reason in the app. The hotel offered “free cancellation,” but I was still charged €476.16. I don't recommend Booking.com or Urban Inn Madrid to anyone. This is abuse.

The capsules are spacious, though a couple of hooks or a larger shelf inside would be useful. Everything was super clean, the location was great, and the price was right. I'd definitely stay again!

The Wi-Fi inside the capsules dropped out now and then. Since the beds are capsule-style, how well you sleep also depends quite a bit on how noisy the people nearby are. Still, I had a good stay, the bed was comfortable, things worked, and I had no major complaints.
