We booked three nights but stayed none of them. Room 207 looked nothing like the online photos: it had a dark hallway with old carpet, a door that looked like an emergency exit, harsh hospital-style lighting, very old furniture and an unclean bathroom. It felt neglected and uncomfortable, so we moved to another hotel right away. Check-in was rude and unhelpful, and nobody helped with our luggage. We had to unload everything ourselves in the garage, then were charged for the few minutes the car was there. Booking.com understood our complaint after we raised it, but VP Recoletos still refused a refund even though we hadn't stayed. They also charge extra for almost everything, including basic in-room items that aren't from the minibar. The room felt outdated, the advertising was misleading, and the service was poor. I found them unwilling to resolve the problem and strongly recommend staying somewhere else in Madrid.

The beds are good, and it's perfectly fine as a well-located place to crash. But for a “4 star hotel” it felt really basic, with a bare-bones room and a very minimal lobby and amenities. There was no water in the room. Fine overall, just not a luxury experience.

We came to Madrid for the first time and would happily return to this hotel. It's in a lovely, safe, non-touristic area, with easy access to the park and dozens of museums and shops. Our suite was immaculate and well-appointed, and the housekeeping staff, both day and evening, were professional. We were warmly welcomed by the staff.

The rooms were clean and had a small kitchenette, and the location was excellent and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of variety and food cooked to order. The staff were helpful, quick to offer suggestions, and the service was excellent.

The street is peaceful and quiet even though the location is amazing. The rooms are very comfortable, and the staff were absolutely kind and friendly. Loved it, and I'll definitely come back.
