Alcazaba Premium Hotel

Being in the "Casco Antiguo" made it easy to get to museums, the cathedral and shopping, with loads of restaurants nearby. The hotel is right beside the Alcazaba, and there's a rooftop bar and restaurant. Breakfast is served upstairs, and we're glad we booked it. The ham and cheese omelettes were especially good, as were the coffee and orange juice from the espresso machine. The restaurant views are nice too. Our corner room had a rounded layout and large French-style windows and doors that opened for fresh air and lovely views. The AC worked well, there was plenty of hot water, and the small fridge was useful for keeping water cold. They left two complimentary small bottles of water in the room each day. There is an elevator, so getting around the floors was easy. I liked this hotel, and found it very convenient.

The room was spacious and clean, which matters most to me, and the central location was a plus. I stayed for two weeks and would still recommend the hotel. The staff are friendly, though they didn't give much information on arrival. I found it noisy despite the rooms supposedly being quiet, and the single beds are very small. There's no phone in the room, which was new to me, and they don't replenish the tea or bathroom amenities.

With a small baby along, the full day and night without electricity was very difficult. The room had no power or heating and was quite cold, there was no hot water, and the elevator was out too. The hotel said it was a municipal issue and didn't offer help. After a day and a half, we had to move elsewhere because caring for the baby like that in December was impossible. They even refused a refund. Terrible, I don't recommend it. Update: Thanks for replying, manager, but we had no blankets, lights or power banks, and didn't know these could be provided as you said. We also had no idea when the outage would be fixed. With our phones uncharged, we had to act fast and leave. I still feel the situation was handled badly.

The only thing going for the hotel is its convenient location, but the noise made it feel like sleeping out on the street. There is a huge construction site behind it, and the hotel occupies only three floors of a building surrounded by restaurants and cafes. It's also beside a main road and bike parking. You can hear noise day and night, even with earplugs. There is no security, since the public can reach every floor by the stairs. The common area has just two chairs, set in front of another guest room. Don't be misled by the pictures: your room won't have the amazing view, and hotel guests don't get special access to the rooftop restaurant, which is open to the public. The high ratings seem to be for that rooftop restaurant, not the hotel. Avoid.
