Casa Babylon Backpackers

Out of the three hostels I stayed at during my recent time in Malaga, this was my favorite. It has a relaxed, easygoing feel and a lovely chill atmosphere, even if it isn't perfect. Expect tie dyed shirts, wide bottom pants, and the smell of 420 hanging around. Definitely a bohemian chic vibe!

The hostel has lovely decor, welcoming service, and a friendly atmosphere. Sadly, it wasn't very clean, and seeing other comments about bed bugs left me worried. I'd recommend it if it were cleaner and free of bed bugs.

We had a really lovely stay at casa Babylon and I’d happily come back next time 😎. The staff were kind and helpful, and there’s even a bar serving excellent artisanal beers. The house is spacious and fully equipped, with a big kitchen, living room, four bathrooms, and three terraces for breakfast or relaxing. I’d recommend it 100%.

The terrace and kitchen were effectively off limits to us: staff reserved the terrace all day, until after midnight, for around 20 friends, and moved our food from the fridge to fit their barbecue meat. That was the opposite of feeling at home, whatever the welcome signs said. In all my hostel stays, I’d never seen paying guests pushed aside like that. One staff member, probably an intern, was kind and helpful. The janitor/cook was rude, gave us dirty looks, and ignored questions like “where’s the coffee,” despite our speaking impeccable Spanish. The place itself was nice enough, but the description made it sound friendly and welcoming, and it wasn’t. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
