Soho Boutique Colón

I had to cancel a recent booking because of severe flooding where I live in Ireland. The team at Soho Boutique Colón in Málaga handled it with real understanding and professionalism. They were compassionate, efficient, and very accommodating at a stressful time, which made me even more confident in the brand. I’ve stayed with the Soho Boutique chain several times. The hotel has consistently offered first-class comfort, style, and service, with immaculate rooms, an elegant but welcoming feel, and a superb location. As a National Guide from Ireland, I stay in hotels regularly and know how much genuine hospitality matters. I’d gladly recommend Soho Boutique Colón and the wider Soho Boutique group to all kinds of travellers. I’d also suggest booking directly, since the service and communication are second to none. The hotel looks much better in the pictures. There’s no parking, and the desk staff seemed to think they were better than everyone else. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We booked through Booking.com after seeing the hotel listed as pet friendly, and told them we’d be travelling with our dog, our Collie "Cooper". When we arrived a day early during one of the worst storms to hit Malaga, Booking.com showed availability. The hotel had a room and reserved it, but then said Cooper was 9kg over their 10kg limit. That limit was in the fine print, while “pet friendly” was what stood out on the site. We couldn’t stay, but they still charged us. I asked both Booking.com and the hotel for a refund because the weight restriction hadn’t been made clear. The hotel basically said it was all my fault and offered no help, even though the storm was awful and Spanish government alerts said not to travel. Who reads the fine print when booking? If a hotel says it’s pet friendly, the restrictions should be clear. This was ridiculous.

The rooms were spacious, spotless, and furnished in a modern style. The bathroom was roomy too, with a shower that heated up quickly and big, fluffy towels. The location is great, right by the train station and just a very short walk from the city centre. You can take the C1 straight from the airport, then walk about five minutes to the hotel.

Really comfortable and in a very handy spot, especially if you’re visiting the Alhambra before or after your stay. Some of the interior design is odd, though. They’ve put the TV behind a mirror.
