The Lights Garden

We arrived really late, around 3am, but the staff still made an effort to check us in. Our 4p women's dorm was small and simple, with just a fan, but the shower was suuuper nice and clean. Breakfast was what you’d expect for the friendly price, and the coffee was okay. The location is great. The staff also helped us plan our trip to Granada, translating about half the website while we sorted out bus and Alhambra tickets. I can definitely recommend staying here!

Affordable prices that work for a traveler’s budget, plus a 10/10 breakfast with all kinds of things. The rooms and showers are great too. Javier Diego Octavio and especially Elena made me feel right at home. One of the best in Malaga.

I arrived to check in at the location where I had booked, rang the bell many times and called, but nobody answered. I then got a message through agoda saying the actual location had moved, and that I had to walk 15 minutes to a newer hostel, The Lights hostel. I was upset because I don’t believe it’s legal to relocate a place after I’ve booked and paid. The Lights Hostel is near the central market, far from The Lights Garden, and it isn’t even on Google map. The supposed upgrade didn’t feel like an upgrade at all, just a bed in a dormitory room. The room was so hot, with no aircon or fan. I went in angry, and the employee didn’t apologize, just gave excuses and offered one bottle of free breakfast. I asked for a real upgrade, at least to a private room. The manager agreed, but when I got there it was just a normal dormitory room without roommates. This was one of my worst hostel experiences in years. Don’t book this place. It’s a scam!

A small, quiet, cozy hostel in a very good spot in the city’s old town. The rooms are decorated with care, and reception is really friendly. Highly recommend it!
