The Lights Hostel

Cheap food and drinks, and beautiful people. I didn’t expect a hostel to be so clean and well run, but my stay has been warm and welcoming so far. The staff are super friendly, mostly local, and know how to help make your trip worthwhile. It’s very central too, with a train station and several bus stops a short walk away. Step outside and you’re in the vibrant city center.

I stayed for 5 nights in early May in 2026 with a friend, in the 6-bed female-only dorm. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was clean, spacious enough for our things, and cleaned daily. The bed was comfortable, with curtains, little wall baskets and OUTLETS! Three of them. There was a bathroom with a shower in the room, and the building has an elevator. Common areas were alright, especially the little rooftop, where they serve delicious home-made dinner every evening for 5€. It was a nice way to chat and socialize. They also offer free sangria in the evening and pub crawls, 15€ for 2 pubs, 2 clubs, 1 free drink once and 1 shot per place. Security felt okay. We needed a keycard to enter our room, and padlocks for the lockers could be rented, though I’m not sure if they cost anything. At another hostel you had to show a keycard or another identifier to a ring camera, but here you could get in by simply ringing the doorbell. I didn’t see anyone sketchy, though. The kitchen felt disorganized and dirty by my standards. I didn’t want to spend longer there than I had to, especially with the fridge on the right needing a scrub. It could use a proper deep clean, neatly arranged kitchenware and a dish brush. It was hard to find things. On floor 1, where our room was, there was also a strong, yucky smell in the hallway. I didn’t think much of it on day one, but it started to bother me. It never reached our room, though. I had a pleasant stay. The hostel felt warm, safe, clean and quite social if you wanted it to be. The location is great, with everything within walking distance. I’d recommend it.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Lights! It was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun, whether at the free walking tour, breakfast, diner or pub crawl. The staff were friendly and helpful, and a special thanks to Silvia, who checked me in and made me feel welcome. The diner was delicious and really well done for a hostel meal, and it included a drink, so I’d recommend it. The breakfast buffet was also really nice and worth the money. Great location too, close to everything, including the train station for the airport, the port and the city centre. I’d 100% recommend this hostel for solo traveling.

The room was immaculate, and the staff were attentive and friendly during our 2 nights there. We had a little balcony facing the market, a lovely spot to sit with a vino and watch the world go by below. Would highly recommend it.
