Hotel M5 Valencia Aeropuerto

A handy place to stop over, thanks! The rooms are basic but clean, the shower is great, and the blinds make the room very dark and fairly quiet. The airport is about 20 minutes away on foot or five minutes by taxi.

We landed after a delayed flight at around 2 am, with two adults and three children. There was no receptionist, so we had to WhatsApp him to find out where the keys were. One of the rooms smelled so strongly of cigarettes that we couldn't use it, and all five of us slept in the same room. In the morning there was still no receptionist, so we messaged him about it. A few days later I asked for a refund for the unused room. He said we should have called at 2 am and he would have fixed it, and refused a refund because we hadn't called. That's not acceptable, and I want others to know what happened. The hotel listing says it's one mile from the airport, but it isn't. With five people we needed two taxis, one costing €12 and the one I took costing €18. Not a good first experience in Valencia.

The room was spacious, simply designed, clean and nice, with a clean, prepared bathroom and a really comfortable bed. There's a snack vending machine at reception, and a small bistro open during the day for breakfast. I picked this hotel because I needed to be near the airport after a late arrival in Valencia and was worried I'd miss the last train to the city centre. My flight was badly delayed, so I let the staff know because reception closed at 24:00. They were friendly and arranged check-in over Booking.com chat and what'app, sending directions to the key and the other details. I landed just before midnight and walked about 20 minutes to the hotel, which meant I didn't need a taxi. I followed their messages and got in without trouble.

The bed bugs were the main problem. We found them in our room, and a very nice staff member moved us to another floor. The staff were genuinely helpful and the friendliest hotel staff I've met, which makes it a shame this review is so negative. Still, we spent many hours checking, cleaning, and heating and reheating our clothes, and that took time and money. The rooms were neatly decorated and had AC. There's a restaurant downstairs for breakfast, lunch, coffee, or tea, and La Cova light rail station is nearby. The airport in Manises is about a 30-minute walk. People in the next rooms were smoking, so we had to open our windows, though that wasn't the hotel's fault. The shower curtain didn't keep water in, and the bathroom had too few towel hangers. There were no hangers in the main room either. It was a bit noisy because of the airport, which you'd expect, and other nearby hotels would be noisy too.
