La Villoría

The children still enjoyed the pools and inflatable slides, and I hope the problems can be sorted out so we can visit again. This was our second stay in a deluxe chalet, though the first visit was much more pleasant. The accommodation needed maintenance: the showerhead wouldn't stay fixed, the base was split, the entrance door had gaps that let in lots of bugs, and broken decking slats made it awkward outside. Last year we liked the breakfasts and evening meals. This year the coffee was poor, there was no cereal choice for the children, the bread was a day old, and the dinner was very poor. The children were served cold spaghetti bolognese on the first night, while the gardener used a leaf blower at 20.00pm. Opening hours were confusing because the information around the site, in the literature, and on the website didn't match. The published availability times for the children's inflatables caused some unnecessary distress too.

We were charged over €90 per night and room because our stay coincided with the Jerez MotoGP Grand Prix. For that price, the photos felt misleading, the service was terrible, and no one did or said a thing after I reported what happened. I'll never stay in that "hotel" again, and wouldn't recommend it even for free. Things were bad before we got inside: the outside doors had been painted, including over the lock, and wouldn't open or close properly. Inside, there was a foul mix of sewage, damp, and paint smells. After a long journey, I found two cockroaches in the bathtub, killed them, and went to bed angry. The spring mattress felt 15 or 20 years old, digging into us and creaking with every breath. I tried to put the bathroom incident out of mind, then spotted a lizard on the ceiling. We were a pregnant woman and a 9-month-old baby spending two nights in those conditions. I slept very little. The next day, they pruned the palm trees outside my room with a chainsaw, which only added to the experience. Don't be fooled.

The showerhead didn't work, so I had to shower on my knees. The room was in poor shape too: the bed felt unstable, as if it might fall apart, and I couldn't rest. Cleaning was clearly inadequate, and everything felt neglected. Most concerning, a lizard appeared on the bedroom ceiling during my stay. I was there with a baby, which made that more worrying. I've attached a photo. At over €90 a night, the conditions and service were very poor, and it felt like basic hygiene and health standards weren't being met. I absolutely don't recommend it.

The location was terrible, out in the countryside with nothing around, and the facilities were ancient. There were lots of bugs, with marks on the ground from people throwing shoes at them. We were completely alone in the hotel, and the gate was always open. We had booked breakfast, but were told on arrival the kitchen wouldn't be open during our stay. There was only one employee in the whole hotel, and they left. Bring exact change, as they didn't even have €10 to give back. To top it off, we were the only guests there.
