La Taberna Grande

The food was worth eating, but the wait ruined the visit. We had a reservation for Sunday, May 18 at 3 pm, moved from 2:30 because a staff member was unavailable. When we arrived, our table wasn’t ready and we waited a long time. Then two groups of four and eight arrived after us, despite our having ordered first, and still ate and left before we did. Our meal took three hours. The organization was very, very, VERY poor. The waits were especially difficult with small children, and everyone was extremely unhappy. We were treated like dirt compared with people without reservations who arrived after us. I won’t be back.

In Miranda de Ebro’s old town, Taberna Grande is a traditional spot with an authentic feel and a long history. It’s a great place for tapas: there’s plenty of variety, the food tastes homemade, and the prices are very reasonable. A classic bar where you can count on good food.

Friendly service, but it was slow. With only two tables occupied, it still took a long time to bring our three combination plates. The servings were big but salty, and the fries seemed reheated. The bill also seemed off. Water was €2.60 a bottle, which felt very expensive, and bread was €0.60 per person, stale, and different from what other tables got. Ice creams were listed at €2.50 and €1.50, but somehow we were charged €4.20. This review is about the tavern.

Friends recommended this place, and we loved the food and the friendly waiters. We’ll be back to try the burgers that looked so good!
