Babalu Apartment

My money was there when I left the room that morning, but after the cleaners had been in, it was gone. I confronted reception, and they only said the cleaners were really good. I hate this country because this always happens here and people can't be trusted.

The balcony had a fantastic view, and I still loved staying here. The staff were friendly and the pool area was great. There wasn't a hairdryer, and we had to buy our own fan because there was no air conditioning.

The rooms were pretty standard, but the beds were awful. I paid extra for a pool view, though all the rooms have a balcony and face the pool. We chose the all-inclusive option, but there wasn't even a bar. The maids left my apartment door open all morning and afternoon because they didn't shut it properly. Around the pool, everyone saves sunbeds, yet nobody seems to be in the water. I raised it with the lifeguard, who told me to speak to reception. He is responsible for the pool area and didn't seem to care. There are bars, restaurants, and a few shops in the shopping centre across the road. The beach and main area are a long walk away, though a taxi costs about 4 euros. I just got back from a week here and wouldn't return.

The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful, and the domestic staff kept the rooms spotless with fresh towels and made beds each day. The pool area was spotless too, and the pools were lovely. They usually didn't open until about 10:30, but stayed open past 7. This was our second stay at Babalu, and it didn't match the first. The rooms are adequate but look very tired. The bed and bedding weren't comfortable, and the pillows felt like pillowcases stuffed with socks. There's no pool bar now, so no snacks or drinks there. There was plenty of music from other guests whether you wanted it or not. We particularly enjoyed the drunk person singing along upstairs, then the door slamming and chair scraping from below at 2 am. That's budget holiday hotels for you, I suppose. We did enjoy the stay, though I'm getting less tolerant of noise and lost sleep as I get older! 😆😆
