The beds were comfortable, and the balcony view was spectacular. Staff were great too. The internet was a nightmare, though, and there’s no air conditioning. The furniture looked very dated. Restaurants and beaches are reasonably close, but getting around means walking up and down steep hills, which won’t suit many people. There’s a good reason taxis are zipping up and down all day and night.

The reclining chairs on the balcony were a huge bonus, I wish more hotels had them. There are lots of steps down to the shopping centre, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. Montesol is clean and a bit dated, but has what you need, and the staff are friendly. For the price, I can’t really fault it. I’m staying here now and would happily come back 👍🏻

The reception was shut when we arrived, and the place was dirty and dusty throughout. There were cockroaches in both the bathroom and kitchen, and barely any water came through the shower. I wouldn’t recommend booking the Montesol hotel in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. Pay a little more for somewhere better.

Avoid. The apartment was very dirty and the cleaner barely touched it. We didn’t get fresh bedding, and both the door lock and shower tap were faulty. There were frequent smells of cannabis and smoke coming from other guests’ balconies. Facilities were poor, there was no WiFi, and it wasn’t cheap.

No air conditioning or even fans, so it gets hot unless you leave the balcony door open. Then you get noise from the nightlife strip. Still, the reception staff were friendly and the place was clean. You get what you pay for.
