El Humilladero

Family-friendly.

I found the service friendly and polite, and the value for the price seemed good. Casa Rural El Humilladero is in Mogarraz, at Calle Miguel Ángel Maillo, 57, with the Batuecas and Sierra de Francia mountains nearby. It’s a handy base for exploring the area or going hiking, and you can park fairly close by. The village itself is attractive, and the house is lovely inside and out. I especially liked the dining room and its balcony over the main street. Breakfast was the usual coffee, toast, butter, jam, and pastries. One issue is that the room described as 12 square meters seemed smaller, which was confusing. Breakfast could also get chaotic when the woman in charge wasn’t there: some guests took more than their share, leaving others with little or no choice. Some noise from other rooms occasionally disturbed the rest, so better attention to quiet hours would help.

The rooms were spotless, each with its own bathroom, and ours wasn’t cold at all. There were extra blankets and pillows in the closets too. The shared kitchen was well equipped and available for guests to use. I’d read some negative reviews and was pleasantly surprised, since my experience was the opposite. The guesthouse is right in a great part of the village. We met the owners, Plácido and his wife, at breakfast, and they were so warm and friendly. The employee who welcomed us and handed over the key was lovely as well. I’d recommend staying here and would come back if I return to Mogarraz.

The location in the historic old town is excellent, and parking is usually available nearby. Under 200 meters toward the church there’s a very good café called "TAN BONITA," run with real care. I stayed three nights in mid-October 2024 and would happily return. The room was spacious and clean, with a shower and toilet, and the internet worked well. The kitchen and living area, which also serves as the breakfast room, is well equipped and makes you want to cook. Everything about the house felt perfectly and professionally managed.
