Fran at the bar found me a place to sit almost immediately, and soon I had wine and bread in front of me. I’d ended up there after a frustrating evening at another hostel, where the restaurant was full and I’d waited half an hour without getting a table. This spot was just a five-minute walk away, and even though it was busy too, they welcomed me right in. They saved my night, and my very grateful stomach thanks them. I even got dinner with a view.

The rooms were clean and great, the food was good, and the view was lovely. It’s a very nice, new Albergue, and while it costs a bit more, I thought it was worth it. The shower had no controls and came down with such force that it felt like a car wash. After a long hike, though, sometimes that’s just what you need.

The reception staff were very rude. We’d travelled from overseas, and everything felt expensive. Two dorm beds in one room cost us $60 AUD, and towels were another six dollars. The signs showed the wrong prices, and they charged extra for everything. There was no privacy in the rooms, and staff didn’t even knock. I’d strongly advise people not to stop here.

The rooms were quiet, modern, clean, and spacious, with lots of outlets for charging devices. Dinner was a tasty three-course meal with several healthy choices. The heat wasn’t working during my stay, but the thick, fluffy blankets kept it from being a problem. The shower was decent, though there was no hairdryer.
