Hotel Meson de Don Quijote

The beds seem made for people from a couple of hundred years ago, and they made for a very uncomfortable night. For the price, it’s poor value, especially when there are much nicer places to stay. The place feels like a museum, quaint and quirky, but old-fashioned.

We ate lunch and dinner here several times during our stay, and both the food and service were exceptional. The Morcilla, cheese, desserts and local wine are all must-tries. Amazing food and staff.

In the morning, we could clearly hear noise from the room next door. During breakfast, it was packed, and with only two waitresses serving customers we waited at least half an hour to be attended to. We complained at reception and were told we had to wait, though they said we’d be served eventually. The rooms are above the restaurant, so you can hear absolutely everything. We called reception twice because a group of children were shouting downstairs, and even after we complained, the noise hardly changed. Very bad service.

The food was average, and the staff seemed grumpy at first. They warmed up after they realized someone in our group had previously helped their sister with a flat tyre. It’s OK, and the best option in Mota when Enrique's is closed.
