Casa Jalecha

The beach is about 1 km away, and going by car is recommended. There’s no internet, though we didn’t find it necessary on vacation. We’d happily recommend the house and definitely return. Casa Jalecha is a lovely two-story stone house in peaceful Merexo, a village in Muxia. Some of the access roads are very narrow, so it’s a good idea to meet Maria José or Andrés outside the village, for example at the Pensión Atlántico. They welcomed us when we arrived after we let them know in advance, and arriving at unusual hours is also possible. Their hospitality is unparalleled: they’re available if you need them, but leave you in peace if you don’t. There’s a small patio at street level. Downstairs, the open-plan kitchen is fully equipped with a four-burner stove, microwave, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, toaster, Italian coffee maker and Dolce Gusto machine, blender, basic kitchen utensils, cutlery, glasses, forks, etc. There’s also a 50" TV, a separate full bathroom with towels, a small two-seater sofa, a table and four chairs, a utility room with a washing machine and cleaning supplies, and a modern wood-burning stove. Two chairs and a small wooden table can be taken out to the patio. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Both have windows, and one has a small TV. There’s another separate full bathroom with towels. The beds were comfortable, with duvets, sheets, and various pillows. A small portable barbecue is kept in an outbuilding. The house was fairly clean, though there’s room to improve, and it is in a village in the countryside. Hot water comes from a gas water heater using a butane canister.
