Hotel Banhs de Tredos

We stopped for a quick beer, then the food caught our attention. The three-course set menu at €30 felt like a bargain, and every course was delicious. The ice cream was the best I've ever had. Lovely setting, tasty food, and really friendly staff.

We had a great day, helped along by the warm, friendly staff and guides, who were happy to accommodate us. In the middle of winter, the equipment could have been in better condition, but it was still a pleasant experience. You can use snowshoes to explore, hike to a nearby waterfall, or relax in the sauna, pool, or hot tub. Our snowmobile ride brought us straight to the hotel and its restaurant. The ride was a good length, took us along scenic routes, and came at a very reasonable price as part of the experience package. In winter, it seemed the only way to reach this charming mountain hotel was by snowmobile. The restaurant serves generous portions and probably some of the area's most authentic Catalonian cuisine. There are also various services that make it easy to enjoy both the hotel and the surrounding area.

We've visited in both winter and summer several times, and it's a lovely place we'd happily return to. Winter in particular is one of the most relaxing experiences you can imagine. It's a family hotel with very personal service, and they take care of extra requests. The kitchen is well worth recommending too, with local ingredients and a nice international touch.

After walking for two hours from Salardu, we stopped for a beer and ended up staying for a three-course meal. These folks are miles from anywhere, so they could easily serve standard food and we'd have accepted it. But the food was seriously good. The 10-hour slow-cooked pork rib was incredible, and my partner's sausage had all kinds of different flavour notes. I'm a chef, and I was so happy I even shed a tear. Maybe I'm just a crier, but I'd happily flood the table every time if the food stayed this good. The panna cotta was wonderfully clean tasting, without a vanilla bean in sight. The cream or milk must come from golden cows. The staff were lovely, and even with a little language barrier, their passion came through. Hats off to them. Go there, they're great.
