The staff stayed cheerful and friendly even when things got busy. Dinner portions were generous, the prices were reasonable, and breakfast was a standard continental buffet. A comfortable room and good value, especially as a stop for trekking in the gorge of the Rio Lobos.

There are serious safety issues here. When you take your dog out, you have to bring the keys to get back into the hotel, which means anyone left in the room can't open the door to get out. Taking the stairs instead of the extremely slow lift felt risky too. There are no windows, or the shutters are fully closed, and there are no safety lights, which are legally required. I hit my head on a door on the stairs because I didn't know it was there. Very unsafe.

The service was rude. We were left waiting for half an hour, then they finally told us they wouldn't serve us food. Nobody even asked if we wanted a drink or warned us they'd be closing early while we were checking in.
