The private wine tasting and sensory session is worth booking ahead. It’s about more than tasting: you get to smell, learn about, and discover the story behind Rioja’s wines. Cape Diem Hotel also makes a lovely base for visiting Elciego, Laguardia, and the other wine towns, while Navaridas itself is quiet enough to just take in the view. Vineyards, olive trees, and the Sierra Cantábrica mountains surround the place, and it has a way of making time feel slower. The welcome feels personal, and there’s care in the rooms and breakfast too. It isn’t a resort, and it doesn’t need to be. There’s a real warmth and character here, along with a sense of history. A peaceful, quietly luxurious stay that stayed with me after leaving.

Elvira makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The house and rooms are both beautiful and cozy, and it’s a lovely place to step away from the city, enjoy the peace of nature, and explore the area with a good wine. Her husband Javier makes wine, and we really enjoyed the young red Guzman Aldazabal that he left for us with the room. We liked it enough to buy another bottle to take home. It’s definitely somewhere I’d want to return to. Highly recommended 💜

The building has real history and is beautifully set, and the price was very good. Breakfast was quite complete, and the service was excellent, with a welcome gift and all the information we needed about the area. The room was very cozy, so it was a good experience and I’d come back. One thing didn’t work for me: the beds felt a bit short for tall people, and the cushioned box spring moved more than I liked.

In a small, quiet village, this lovely Bed & Breakfast makes a great base for exploring Rioja’s vineyards and charming villages. The owner was kind and very hospitable, and breakfast was delicious, with all sorts of homemade products. The building dates back to 1744, and its age gives it a lovely feel. Highly recommended!

Elvira is friendly and easy to talk to, and she pays attention to every detail. The room comes with a bottle of exquisite Guzmán Aldazábal (Tempranillo). Carpe Díem is in a strategic spot in Rioja Alavesa, and the winemaking experience there is incredible.
