Apartamentos Toboso Plaza

The check-in process was a little tricky at first since we didn't know how it worked, but an assistant helped us over webcam and phone, which was really useful. We booked at the last minute and had a very nice stay. I'd absolutely recommend it! The apartment was comfortable, with a sofa bed that slept well and a nice, new TV. We didn't have a good view, but being so close to the centre of Nerja made up for that since we weren't planning to spend time indoors. The rooms are a nice concept, and the kitchen is fully equipped for longer stays. There's plenty of wardrobe space, and the new bathrooms are clean and stocked with extras like a bath hat, toothpaste and brush, sewing kit, nail file, cotton pads, and swabs.

The rooftop sunbathing was sublime, even when we did it at Christmas this year. It's quiet, spotless, and they provide as many towels and sheet changes as you need. There's a square on the next street up if you fancy a drink or something to eat. You won't regret booking this place xx

We were very happy with the apartment once we finally got inside. The check-in at 3.30 was handled for us in minutes by someone who came to help. Two other guests had been struggling with the self check-in earlier, and the woman on the intercom was getting frustrated with them. People coming back to the apartments said the same thing, that self check-in doesn't work, but since ours was done for us, we can't comment from experience. The arrival was a poor start. We had no instructions for getting in, which was down to bad communication from Tui. Our taxi driver kindly came to the apartment and helped us in, then spoke to the apartment through the intercom. We were told to return in four hours to check in, and could leave our bags for the cleaner to open the room. The cleaner stood there with her hand on her hip and barked “passport.” I thought she wanted to see our passports, but she meant we should take them with us to check in later. I wasn't going to leave my documents in the room with our cases. She seemed inconvenienced and in a hurry. The apartment itself was modern, clean-looking, and well equipped. There were two small balconies off the lounge, a large TV with English channels and Netflix, and great WiFi. The kitchen had a hob, microwave with grill, and coffee machine. Washing-up liquid, tea towels, a pan scrubber, and pans were provided, though a toaster would have been useful. There was a large shower head and plenty of hot water, but no shelf for shampoo and conditioner. Air conditioning in the lounge and bedroom, a safe, a very comfortable bed and pillows, and plenty of clothes storage were included in the price. There was also an air dryer, iron, and ironing board. It was a very happy setup for our three-week stay, including the odd night in. The rooftop bathing area was lovely. Towels were changed every other day and the bed linen weekly. The downside was the noise. Although it's on a side street, the road is busy, and we could hear traffic even with earplugs. Scooters in the car park, apparently not belonging to guests, came and went for three weeks late at night and early in the morning. We could also hear noise from above and next door. A small bar across the street sometimes had people outside smoking and shouting. On arrival, the place looked clean. But something I dropped rolled under the bed settee, and underneath was thick dust, a dirty cotton bud, and dried food. We swept up the dust and cotton bud and asked the cleaner to deal with the food, which she did. Dusty feet made the shower floor dirty, and it wasn't cleaned. I tried myself, but the textured surface needed proper cleaning products and a scrubber.

The apartment is clean, modern, and nice, and check-in is easy. It's only a few minutes' walk from the centre and beaches. The big issue is the noise: the apartment doors are hard to close quietly, and sounds echo. One odd thing is that the key card also controls the electricity, so when you leave for the day the fridge turns off. You can't keep anything fresh like that, so having a fridge is pointless.
