Volcanic Rural Resort Mas la Garrinada

The hotel feels like an old mansion, with several suite-style rooms that were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was generous and delicious, with local products, and the staff were very attentive. The grounds sit on a flat area inside a volcano's crater, with forests around it where we could walk and look for wild deer. We brought our dog, who was allowed to roam off leash and loved it. It's wonderful to find somewhere this good that welcomes pets. We'll definitely come back.

Breakfast was served at the table in the classic-feeling lounge. A woman brought a tray, and they left juice, yogurt, little plates of cold cuts and cheese, and toast with butter and jam. Coffee was available, made how you like it, and they also offer massages. The resort is in a spectacular spot in a volcano crater, and the rooms are enormous. Ours had a waterbed and a huge bathroom with a tub, candles, a hairdryer and straightener, a salt lamp, and even a small Feng Shui fountain. Hidden LEDs in the plaster ceiling changed color. The decor felt a bit basic, though; something more rustic or charming would suit it better. The stables, pool and other grounds looked a little neglected, but the hotel itself is very nice. Being able to bring a pet makes it highly recommended.

You need a car for the private road, about 1 km uphill from the street entrance to the hotel. Once there, the surroundings are beautiful and everything is very quiet. The service was friendly, the rooms and facilities were spacious and clean, and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Pets are allowed.

The natural setting is stunning, right inside the volcano's crater, and in the afternoon you can spot the deer that live there. The staff were good, and breakfast was complete and typically Catalan, though it didn't include pastries or fruit. The hotel has a sort of 80s decor that may feel a bit jarring to some.
