The kitchenware was disgusting, with grease coating all the pots and pans, and the sunbed cushions were dirty and torn. The whole place felt neglected, and our stay was anything but pleasant. Upstairs, using the shower was a gamble: the showerhead was unreliable, the cabinet sat crooked with rotten legs, and everything seemed old with no sign the owner had invested in it. All the beds were uncomfortable. Opening the wardrobes was a struggle because none of the doors slid properly, and forcing one could leave it hanging off its hinges. Downstairs, the shower flooded the bathroom and left us to clean up a tsunami. The sofa felt itchy to sit on, and I couldn't tell if it was dirty or had some kind of tenant. In the kitchen, opening or closing another door made the boiler cabinet fall apart. I could keep listing things, but I'm almost embarrassed to spell out more of the owners' neglect. With children, you expect a basic level of rest and hygiene, especially when the farmhouse isn't cheap. They need to invest in making it habitable. Such a disappointment, and we're sure not to return.
