Apartamento Balea VII

Heads up, I’ve been in the queue for a beer for 20 minutes. The line is really long.

The woman who served us was really friendly. It’s a great spot with sea views, and the food was acceptable for spending the day at the beach without having to pack up your towel.

The assigned parking spot had also been given to guests who arrived on another day. We had to insist that the manager sort it out, because he was trying to make us leave our car on the street. His behavior was intolerable. The place was filthy when we arrived, with zero COVID hygiene or cleaning measures.

We were four people, and although the apartment is advertised for six, we only had just enough plates and cutlery for ourselves. There weren’t enough chairs, glasses, or cups, and the mugs were chipped. The skylights upstairs wouldn’t open properly, so it was unbearably hot. We got one open by standing on a chair, and two of us managed the other one, but it was extremely stiff. There were bags of food in a cupboard, possibly left by previous guests, so we threw them away. No one told us we needed a card to take the rubbish out, gave us one, or explained where to get one or dispose of the trash. The apartment was extremely dirty. I couldn’t use the dishwasher dishes or put food in the oven because there were scraps inside. We booked an apartment so we could cook and live there for a few days, but the only frying pan was unusable. There was no toaster or hairdryer, so we had to buy those ourselves. At least the walls were clean, and seemed to have been painted recently. The garage door worked when the owner demonstrated it, then stopped working. We had to let three different people in before finding another entrance about 100 meters away that let us get the car in. Someone must have done something later, because after that we could open the original door. Both dining room lights were broken, and one wouldn’t turn on at all. Upstairs, the shower screen was broken and wobbled badly even with a slight touch. I was afraid it might fall, and water leaked through a crack at the side. The toilet seat had broken hinges, so it was uncomfortable to sit on. When we called the owner, we were told they’d already called a plumber. I didn’t realize a plumber was needed to replace a basic toilet seat. After we reported all these problems, the service was terrible. They just said, “I’ll do what I can,” then we never heard from them again. This was before our last day, and it was already worse than other apartments we’d stayed in, including this same one a year earlier. I’m giving it one star because I can’t give less. Not recommended.
